Good first experience
The shows themselves were very good. The facility was very nice, clean and easy to find seats.
One huge failure was the lack of smoking area which caused guests to smoke indoors because there simply was extremely inadequate space for the number of smokers & others.
This caused the doors to the smoking area (directly next to bathrooms, poor decision to clog an entire hallway with the smoking area and bathrooms at the same pinch point).
In the future this facility needs to expand the smoking area to avoid the smoke entering the building which was completely the fault of Alerus Center management.
It was very saddening (even as a smoker myself) to see the hallway leading to the smoking area filled with smoke, over packed and no staff to make sure that smokers actually walked outside instead of stopping at the outer doors and stopping which blocked others from exiting.
Parking also was a huge problem leaving the facility. Absolutely NO left turns should be allowed when events end. Many of us did not move for almost 45 minutes for no reason except a failure to control traffic as the concert ended.
